Self-Lubricating Bearings

GKN sinter metal self lubricating bearings are manufactured using axial press technology. The characteristics of these bearings are determined by the thickness defined. The interconnecting pore network produces a capillary effect, which in turn results in permanent and even lubrication. In addition to the manufacture of bearings according to DIN specifications, GKN Sinter Metals Filters in Radevormwald specialises in the production of customer-tailored sintered porous bearings from 1 – 10,000 units.

Chemical Resistance and Thermal Stability

As a general rule, the chemical characteristics of bearing is the same as that the solid materials used. Thermal resistance limits are set by the oils or greases used. As standard, oil-drenched sinter bronze and sinter iron have a working temperature range of -65º C – 80º C. MOLY Porit bearings, packed with additional lubricating material MoS2 are ideal for use at temperatures up to 300º C.
